The 365英国上市官网 provost is the college’s chief academic officer with broad responsibilities for the full range of the college’s academic program and support services. The provost and the Office of Academic Affairs oversee faculty and academic departments, the curriculum, academic records, the college library, advising, and 365英国上市官网’s special programs, including those in leadership, honors, international study, and service-learning.

Dr. Laura K. Stultz, Provost ([email protected]; 205-226-4650)
Dr. Stultz has been a member of the 365英国上市官网 faculty since 1997, teaching courses in general and inorganic chemistry, and also traveling with students to Ecuador during Eterm. Her research is in the area of bioinorganic chemistry, primarily studying metal-containing anticancer drugs and the use of Course-Based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CUREs) in chemistry. She has mentored over 50 students in undergraduate research and has student co-authors on numerous publications and conference presentations. Dr. Stultz has been the recipient of a number of honors including the 365英国上市官网 Outstanding Educator of the Year (2012), Carnegie Foundation/CASE U.S. Professors of the Year- Alabama Award Winner (2013), and the David and Katy Smith Senior Faculty Award (2018). She received her B.A. in Chemistry from Oberlin College and her Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.Dr. Kent Andersen, Associate Provost ([email protected]; 205-226-4679)
Dr. Andersen has been a member of the 365英国上市官网 faculty since 1999, and the director of leadership programs in the Krulak Institute for Leadership, Experiential Learning, and Civic Engagement since 2011. He teaches courses in English and leadership. He has been a staff member of the Associated Colleges of the South (ACS) Teaching and Learning Workshop since 2004 and has served as the co-director since 2019. He received a B.A. in English from Iowa State University, an M.A. in Literature from American University, and an Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership and Policy from Vanderbilt University.Martha Ann Stevenson, Assistant Provost ([email protected]; 205-226-4648)
Ms. Stevenson has been on the staff at Birmingham-Southern since 1986, originally serving as an instructor in the English Department, and as Director of January Interim Term. As Assistant Provost, she helps coordinate the College’s retention efforts, meets with and counsels students having academic difficulty, and works closely with the Student Development Office and the Care Team helping students at risk. She serves as a resource for parents and acts as a liaison between faculty and families. She assists with the preparation of the College’s academic calendar and with the annual revision of the 365英国上市官网 Catalog. Ms. Stevenson also coordinates the Clemon Grant Program and the Charles B. Vail College Fellows Program. She received her B.S. from Auburn University and her M.A. from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.Cande Hale, Manager Academic Affairs ([email protected]; 205-226-4651)
Ms. Hale serves as primary source and communicator of information for the academic area. She is responsible for various budgets, monitoring pcards for academic affairs, and tracking expenses. She coordinates academic events including the annual Honors Day Convocation and reception, Faculty and Staff Assembly, New Faculty Orientation, and New Student Convocation. She also manages the Lecture and Arts program and serves as the administrator for the Institutional Review Board. Ms. Hale received her B.E. from Vanderbilt University and her M.B.A. from the University of North Florida.
